ARTILLERY CALCULATOR SETTINGS THAT LAND SHELLS
Scan, solve, fire, relocate — a crew workflow that puts your first shell on target and your battery back under cover before counter-battery finds you.
Foxhole artillery is arithmetic — azimuth, distance, shell flight. The calculator tab does that arithmetic for you: feed it your gun and your target, and it hands back the firing solution. This guide covers the settings that feed it, the crew workflow around it, and the counter-battery discipline that keeps your battery alive.
What the calculator actually does
You input your gun and the target; it returns the firing solution — no more walking shells across a grid reference while the enemy relocates. Your first shell is on target instead of your third, which matters twice over: every ranging shot is a flare telling the enemy exactly where your battery sits, and every missed shell is a truck of supplies you did not destroy.
Scan first: the hex-scan settings that feed it
The calculator is only as good as the target picture, and the target picture comes from the maphack tab:
- Cyclic vs random scan — cyclic sweeps hexes in order for steady coverage; random jumps around, which spreads the load on large regions.
- Scan key bind — scan on a keypress instead of a timer, so you sweep exactly when you are about to plan a fire mission.
- Scan debris toggle and object cache time — keep repeated region sweeps fast instead of rescanning rubble you already know about.
- Team overlays and player count — confirm the hex actually holds enemy mass before you commit shells to it.
Scan, solve, fire, relocate
The crew workflow that turns all of this into effect:
- Scan — hit the scan bind, read the hex, confirm the target with team overlays.
- Solve — feed gun and target to the calculator, lay the piece.
- Fire — first-round solution, full salvo on target.
- Relocate — move the battery before counter-battery answers. You are not the only crew with arithmetic.
Counter-battery discipline
Every shell you fire is visible to anyone with a map and a watch. Fire from cover, keep the salvo short, and displace along a route the road-color overlay shows as unwatched. Regiment leads run the same overlay at planning scale — where the enemy batteries sit, where the roads run, where the gap is — so a coordinated push and a lone gun crew are reading the same picture.
